FAQ

Questions, answered

Artwork

What type of photos work best?

Bright, close-up photos taken in natural light, where you can clearly see eyes and faces. A phone photo is absolutely fine — I'll tell you honestly if a photo won't work before you pay anything.

Can you combine multiple photographs?

Yes. Family pieces are often drawn from two or three photos put together, and I can also draw people who were never photographed together.

Can you remove people or backgrounds from a photo?

Yes — just tell me who or what you'd like left out and I'll draw only what you want kept.

Can you draw pets?

Pets are one of my favourite things to draw — dogs, cats, horses and a fair few rabbits so far.

Can you create memorial artwork?

Yes, and I take these commissions very gently. Older or damaged photographs are usually still workable, and I'll take as much time as you need over the details.

Can I request a specific style?

You can choose pencil, ink or watercolour, and tell me whether you'd like a soft sketch or a fully finished tonal drawing.

Ordering

How long does a commission take?

Most pieces take one to two weeks from the day we agree the details. Christmas and Mother's Day book up early, so get in touch sooner if it's for a date.

How much does it cost?

Pieces start at £85 for an A5 single subject. The full price list is on the commissions page.

When do I pay, and do you need a deposit?

A 50% deposit starts your piece and the balance is due once you've seen and approved the finished drawing.

Can I order urgently?

Sometimes. Message me with your date and I'll tell you straight away whether I can fit it in.

Delivery

Where do you deliver?

Anywhere in the UK as standard, and internationally on request.

How is artwork packaged?

Backed with acid-free board, wrapped in tissue and sent in a rigid protective mailer.

Is delivery tracked?

Yes, every piece goes tracked and signed for, and I send you the number.

Changes

Will I see the artwork before delivery?

Always. You'll get progress photos as I go and a clear final photo to approve before anything is posted.

Can I request changes?

Yes — one round of adjustments is included, and I'd much rather you asked than lived with something not quite right.

Let's make something you'll keep.
